The Elder Mythos

Chaos screams in the void of Nether.

And Fate weaves through Time calling for Judgment.

The Elders

The elders are an ancient, once revered series of gods who worked together to create the four realms. The stories and fables regarding the sacrifices they made to walk among their creations have been largely lost. Those eons were known as the Golden Millennium. Their presence blessed the realms, maintained balance, established order, and gifted souls with magic.

Near the end of the Golden Millennium, the pantheon was borne, mortals chosen to ascend to fulfill the various roles the elders once held. Over time, the gods grew distrustful of their creators, fearing they would rescind the gift of godhood as easily as they’d bestowed it.

And thus the Great Hunt began.

Followed by The Fall.

  • Known as the mother of magic, Aether is the entity responsible for creating the veil.

“Before the first spark of creation, Aether existed and longed for Life.”

  • Known as the crown of cataclysm, Chaos is an inherent entity woven into every soul.

“And when the end came, it wasn’t hellfire and meteors. It was beauty and tears.”

  • Known as the daughter of darkness, Darkness is the comfort all eventually seek.

“Her touch was gentle, her memory flawless, for she did not wish to smother, but shield.”

  • Known as the descent of death, Death is integral in the cycle of rebirth.

“Death isn’t unkind, it isn’t a punishment. It is a change inevitable for all.”

  • Known as the favos of fate, Fate is the thread connecting countless lives.

“No life, no creature, despite influence, significance, or riches, is untouched by Fate.”

  • Known as the jury of judgement, Judgement is the entity responsible for determining a soul’s worth.

“A final trial, not about punishment or reward, reveals the reckoning of truth.”

  • Once known as the lambent of life, Life is the need for growth. Life created the living realm.

“The spark in every soul. The dawn of every new morn. Life is the pulse of all.”

  • Known as the lament of light, Light is the entity responsible for the possibility of good within a soul. Light created the heavens.

“His lament was not one of sorrow, but one of acceptance.”

  • Known as the nature of nether, Nether is the entity responsible for creation of the hells.

“Neither light, nor dark. Cold, nor warm, Nether is the silence between heartbeats—the cost of it all.”

  • Known as the oracle of order, Order is responsible for a soul’s desire to find their place within the four realms.

“Order bestows a sense of peace, understanding—a means to process experience.”

  • Once known as the tenacity of time, Time fathers all entities.

“It never grows weary, it never slows. It presses forward eternally, damning us all.”
